Question Factory inspection note question

I ordered a 97 30th Anniversary Camaro on July 1st, 1996, and it was delivered in September. It has a note on the radiator support, 'First Off 8-26-96'. I am wondering if any one can help me figure out if that means the first one off that day, or the first convertible, or what. The VIN is 2G1FP32P3V2109245.

Thanks for your help with this!

I know of no document that could substantiate your note. The build sheet might come close, but I would think that document was printed out before the car's production started and would not be able to include the time or date it rolled off the line. Even if it did, wouldn't you have to have the same information from the car that preceded it on the assembly line to verify this distinction in production. Unfortunately, I don't think GM kept build records that were that detailed. Maybe someone else has more knowledge of this subject and will respond.

I have not heard of this on other cars, It could be the first off for a shift or the first off for the week, It could have been the first of after a change in the production process. In my experience its probably a note to QA so farther down the line and alternate inspection can be done (Usually more inspection). It was suppose to be removed but it was missed. A lot of time we write in chalk to communicate farther down the line. In most cases these work instruction where temporary and not even documented in the engineering production plan. Normally if the factory the dealer will remove it while it is being detailed.
