i can tell you right now you have no clue what you would be in for doing a v8 swap, you need to buy a v8 parts car to do the swap. everything needs to be swapped. engine wiring, chassis wiring, dash wiring, gauge cluster, k-frame, trans cross member, rack and pinion, fuel pump, ect. you will gut and strip your car to a bare shell to complete a swap like this.

Almost everything you listed as you upgraded is going to end up in your left over pile. If it was a 98 the LS1 thing would be a little easier but with a 97 you might as well be mounting it is a 67. You will need everything

I have been told that the 97 will fit a LS1 without changing the whole front clip. What I do not understand is the the 98's do have more clearance under the hood. I find it hard to believe that the engineers did not use that space. They did with the V6. The 96-97 V6 intakes has a bend in them the 98-02 do not. I am sure the lack of a bend inproves flow. I can not put a 98-02 intake on my car because the hood will not close. So the engineers took advanage of the space on the V6 base model but did not take advantage of it with a new design V8? It just doen't sound right, crame all that stuff under the hood and just leave 3-4 inch unused.

You can use the same front clip if you run an LT1 radiator and LT1 style cold air intake. You cannot run the LS1 radiator and lid style intake with stock mounting locations with an early style hood and front clip. You may be able to tilt the radiator back far enough if you're hell-bent on running the lid style intake.

Other than that, listen to Import, he's one of the few around here that has actually completed this swap...

I am starting on a 95 Camaro and just getting rid of the computer all together. Havent decided if I want it automatic or standard yet though. The car has the clutch pedal. so if you use a crate motor and not going to use the computer I dont imagine it could be all that bad. I am going to custom wire mine though and it will be a long project.
