Default Electrical Smoke?

1994 V6 Camaro

This has happened to me twice in the past month. I have stopped to get gas. Go to crank it up and it barely turns over (sounds like battery is dead), then starts to smoke like crazy under the hood. I wait a few minutes, try again and it is still slow, but starts up. Smoke appears to come from the left side, maybe under the fuse panel. I really can't tell.

So what do you guys think? Loose wire? I'm scared the old car is gonna burn up.

Need to check for loose wires, fuses, etc. Could be loose connections iin the fuse box arching and melting the box. Need to take a look at it pretty quick or it could be a big fire. Also, check to make sure that the battery connections are clean and tight on both ends.

Check for any corroded wire or component connections in the suspect area. A bad/intermittent connection can cause smoke. In the mean time, it wouldn't hurt to carry a fire extinguisher or marshmallows with you till you get it sorted out. Carbeque's aren't very much fun!

there are ground wires that hook to the block on the front driver side. check them out for any heat damage.
