EGR Valve question

EGR Valve question
I have a 96 camaro with a manual transmission and a 3.8L engine. I have had this issue for a while and haven't had time to fix it or the money. It is throwing a multiple random misfire code p0300 i believe as well as a p1406 code which is the pintle position sensor for the EGR I think. It does not idle very consistently and is kind of rough. If i ease into the gas it seems to be running fine and kind of sputters a little here and there but the issue is when i get on the gas quickly i can definitely tell that is is sputtering quite a bit and is not running right. It is also worse at lower RPMs and gets a little better when it is in the 2500+ range. I can go through first second and third with it seeming to run alright then fourth and fifth get pretty rough. If I am in fifth and give it anything other than a very gradual increase in gas it doesn't want to accelerate anywhere near what it should be doing and the RPMs don't go up like they should either but it sounds like it should be. If i find a constant speed and back off the gas just a little it seems to be catching and firing on all cylinders. I think I need to replace the EGR valve I just want to make sure before I spend $135 on a new one. Also I pulled one from the junkyard and it has the same problem. No guarantees that that one was good it looked a little old itself. But when i swapped those it did the same think as described above. Thoughts?

Before putting in a new EGR valve try cleaning out the carbon deposit in the EGR and in the passages from the exhaust system to the EGR. If the passages are clogged an new EGR won't help.
