The thermostat servers another purpose as it slows the water down so it can actually absorb some heat. Not having a thermostat/restrictor is bad for your engine.

basically i removed it because i live here in puerto rico and its usually very hot most of the year so i thought it would be better for the car tu run without it... i noticed that the thermostat is 180 and that was weird cause arent they usually like 195 or somethin?? im also thinking that it might be a bad sensor cause after a while the service engine light turns off...

removing it does the opposite of keeping the engine cool, because the fluid is moving so fast that it can't capture the heat from the engine. A 160 or 180 t-stat would be just fine.

The computer has a timer in it, the engine has to be warmed up in a certain time for the emmisions to go in to closed loop, if it does not see that within the parameters programmed int he PCM, it will set a code, You need that thermostat anyway, metal wear at its least at 195 degrees.
