Question Coolant gauge not working

I have replaced the coolant temp sending unit, by the intake manifold on the driver's side, but the gauge still reads nothing, sittin' on its peg. I also notice that when I start the car, it doesn't move from where it would be before like the other gauges do upon ignition.

My question is, what else can I check for fault to get this gauge working again? Its a '95 3.4 V6.

Thanks in advance!

theres another temp sensor in the head, driverside i believe, that one runs the gauge. the one you replaced is the one that the computer reads.
