Default Compression in a v6

I'm hoping i can get some insight on this. Keep in mind that this is not for a Camaro its for a Toyota 4runner. Please dont flame me i just dont feel like opening a new account on a toyota forum and since this is a non specific question it shouldnt matter and also i love you guys. Anywas so im getting bad compression. In order from front of car passanger side 120 90 90. On the driver side starting at the back to front 65 150 150. This car was overheated. Now am I right to believe that this is enough to stop the car from starting. The one with 65 is the one that worries because the nearby cylinder still has good if not great compression. I assume that the passanger side has a blown headgasket but the 65psi cylinder has a bad piston ring. Anyways my buddy says that is unrelated to the starting problem and that it should be able to start still. I strongly disagree. Any inputs?

MODS i accidentally put this in the 4th gen section sorry if you want to move it to general tech thats fine.

Cylinder do not have to be blown between each other. It is more common for the head gasket to blow to the coolant passage then to cylinder.

If you can find a cheap plug adapter you can put shop air into the cylinder and see where it leaks too. Remove the raditor cap, the oil cap, and the air clearner. Apply air and see where it comes out. If its not coming out any of those then check the tail pipe.

If you are pretty sure its the head gasket you could do a coolant pressure test. Do the test with the plugs out and see if you hear and thing from that area.

anything under say 100psi will have a hard time firing and i guarantee the 65 cylinder wont fire at all those 4 runner motors are pretty cheap (i can pick one up for $250 with no accessories and i can get a short block for $125) if it were me id replace before rebuilding

I got some good connections at dismantlers and still the cheapest I can get is 1k for a used longblock. I added oil to the 65psi cylinder and it jumped to 90psi so its gonna have bad piston rings. They decided to not invest any more money and are gonna just sell the car as is

O your talking about those yards. I don't do junkyard engines that I can't see run. It's just not worth the risk.

the 60 day warranty helps to ease that also they buy there cars from auctions and know if the car runs or not theres a sticker on the windshield that tells you everything about the car miles when it came in what works what doesnt that kind of stuff

It my are there is tons of yard but they are all the same. They only toss em in there. If they start and have the title then they are "builders" which to tell you the truth doesnt mean ****. I have friends who work there and they even say themself that by the time that car is on the lot it has been in the the lot for a year with no care at all. They only buy the cars for scrap metal. + its not my car so if the engine is bad im not gonna remove it and then remove another one from the yard and hope that one works.
