Default Cleaning under the hood

with gen 4's before 98 with the distrubutor problem, whats the best way to get the engine and all looking clean and new? i have the msd distributor replacement, but even with that can i just hose down the engine? (ive been told that hot water and soap does wonders). today i just got a wet wrag and wrung it out, and wiped down the major parts. but i want it to look new, not just better

make sure u cover the ecu, opti and the alternator. if your goin to town cover the starter too. if theres any question cover it. clean later with a rag. always blow dry at high speed.

Hey i did this the other day, all i used was a de-greaser and some soap and water and your set. use the de-greaser oh parts of the engine that are heavily gunk ed up. and then when your done with that wipe down with soap and like the other guy said cover up your connections.
