Question Cleaning!

Ok so I have this notion to pressure was the engine bay and underbody of my car. Now seeing how old this is and being thatis not kept up with, I feel that maybe some plastic or rubber or even steel parts may want to fall apart, and not knowing what chemicals to use to get a good clean I may mess things up, and to me that's not an option.

With that being I am asking for any tips and the right direction.

Simple Green works great as an engine cleaner and degreaser. You can buy it in the commercial size buckets which lets you be able to mix in as much or as little as you want. Definately follow the less is more ideiology though, because the stuff is potent.

I advise against using a pressure washer. With old gaskets and hoses your asking for trouble. Spray simple green , scrub and rinse with a bucket of water. Either cover the alt and coil pack or remove them. That should do the trick. Its just oil and dirt build up

These cars have enough trouble getting water in the computer system without a pressure washer. You want to pressure wash the rear axles go for it but I would not pressure wash anything near the engine. Hech I am sure I could disable your car with quart of water if I poured it in the right spot under the hood.

i see, well i'll do the rear end, But are not anyvking of provisions I could take to stop the water from messing things up, like a heavy duty trash bag for cover? I'm really only trying to do the undercarriage with the pressure washer and just let the engine bay soak and hopefully lighty spray with a hose, will that work?
