Default catalytic converter question

I just bought the new borla catback system. There are no emissions where I live and I was wondering if there is a downside to taking off my catalytic converter. Will it harm my engine in any way?

No, but depending on what year your car is, it may set off the Check Engine light.

Cats are just for emissions. If you took yours off it would be louder, and have a less restrictive exhaust flow.

Let me know how it sounds when you get it on.. I'm trying to decide which cat back to go with.
