Default Car Wont Start!

Help!

I am stuck at work!

I turned the key and nothing. I get all my power. I have power to seats, windows, radio..etc.

When I turn the key I don't even get a single click. I hear the fuel pump prime.

I checked all my fuses under the hood and everything checks out ok...

I was thinking maybe a bad solenoid but usually wouldn't you get a click noise at least? Dead silence over here

PS - not sure if it makes a difference or not but it is 80 degrees outside so the inside temp is hot...

When you turn the key to start it does everything electrical die and do all the gauges go down to zero?? My old IROC did that and the starter was out on it.....idk if that helps....just putting my thoughts into it....

What year is yours?

Dead starter? I had to replace mine on my '95... Words to the wise -- DO NOT BUY SOME CHEAP REBUILT STARTER, you will do the job TWICE!

Thanks supersport and liberty.

My mechanic came to the same conclusion (although he hasn't looked at it yet). My 94' Z28 was embarrased to take a ride on the back of a flat bed yesterday [8D]

He is going to look at it tonight but I am thinking the alternator. You sometimes DO hear a slight click when the doors are open. It is hard to hear anything with the doors closed as the damn automatic locking doors make so much noise when you turn the key!

If it's the alternator, that is very easy to replace yourself... Murray's have them w/lifetime warranty...

It's probably not the alternator. Battery is charging fine. All the accessories work perfectly also. It just won't start.

I found a lifetime warranty alternator from Kragen for $169 (Autolite)
