Default Can someone identify what this might be?

Car: 1997 SS LT1

I'm hoping this is the fan relay or something similar. Neither fan is coming on after the temp gauge went into the red (well into the red). There is a 15 amp fuse inside of the black "sleeve" that is burnt, the whole inside of the sleeve is trashed. If this is indeed the fan relay I'm wondering if I could simply splice a manual on/off switch in its place?

Thanks advance!

Eric

Follow the wire. Don't think it's for the fans since it's going the wrong way. Unless someone already manually wired in a switch. In any case, that is NOT a factory wire.

As said, some one added an external fan power switch and fused power feed, not OE design.
Only problem with adding a manual fan control is the ECM driver gets shorted out when one wires in a switch onto the ECM control line for the relay.

One should install switch and relay as a separate circuit in parallel to the ECM-controlled fan relay.
