Default Camaro upgrades, how fast compared to z28

Hi, I have a 97 3.8l v6 camaro and im going to install some upgrades. I was wondering if this would make my manual v6 as fast or faster then the z28. I know it will be expensive and im aware I could just buy a z28 but I dont like the gas milage and the v6 I have is flawless, beautiful and has low miles.

I currently have dual exhaust and a large cold are intake the draws from the outside. The upgrades im working on is ported and polished heads, a new performance camshaft, ecu tune, larger fuel injectors and fuel pump. As well as possibly installing a larger throttle body. Do you think this will make my car as fast as the z28 or faster? Right now its doing zero to 60 anywhere from 6.5 to 7.5 seconds. Thanks for the reponse it will be greatly appreciated.

?not those upgrades ,cold air does nothing mabey 1hp, exhuast only makes them louder ,the z28 will get to 0-60 in like 5.9 sec ,you would need to go turbo at a huge cost ,all that may add 20hp ,but most v6 cars take my 05 sable 250hp ,your car stock was 200hp an the z28 285hp with more then 125tlbs an was said to have closer to 300 hp an 350tlbs ,that was the year of the lt4 ss car an they wanted to make sure it was the most powerful camaro of the day an was at 330hp , ,while the 200hp was impressive for years makeing more hp then 80s 305 cars ,so most v6 cars of today will beat you in a race ,there realy not for raceing ,there for pretty good take off ,most haveing 3.42 gears ,but made for great gas milage i love my 3800 just the way it is,now the new v6 cars are more made for the track the 6th gen puts out 330hp an they have track ready Suspension

here are a couple threads to look at. 3.8 is a good engine and has more power than most 70-80s 350s. https://camaroforums.com/forum/93-02...sleeper-40642/

Unless you supercharge it in some way. It wont have the power of a Z-28.yours is more for fuel economy .The Z is more for performance. They are just two different animals.

Z28's get better gas mileage than you might think if you keep your foot out of it. My '93 I managed 28 mpg highway no problem with an auto trans and 2:73 rear end gears. Best I ever did keeping speed down to 60 mph was 29.375 mpg driving 100 miles on the I-5 freeway. I haven't checked the '01 SS out yet but it should do pretty good with a 6 speed manual.
