Question Camaro 99 - 6 Speed HURST Trasmission Problem !!

Hello,

LS1, Hurst 6 speed trasmission 135 R
.................................................. ...............246

I recently bought this baby & its perfect .... couple of nights ago i started to test my fast capability in shifting where i ended up with my gear stuck in fourth shift !! ... drove my car home & found a quick solution through the internet ..... i made my friends push the car backwards while its stuck in 4th shift, so the car was only nudging not moving ..... i held the clutch & the gear was set free =).... happy i was till i got another issue now with my transsmision .... after the incedent the shift from 2-3 (basically 3rd shift).. makes a noise & i hear i feel it hit into something ... =( .... i must let the RPM drop to 1 so that the sound or hit in the gear doest occur !!

I did the same solution but with more man power buy pushing the car backwards & play in the shift while the car is off ... suddenly the sound is gone like magic =s..... same day @ night the problem in the 3rd shift came back .....=(

im desperate for help & in my area i got dumbass garage's that knows **** about this =(....

add me if nessecary ... alawis7777777n@hotmail.com
please refer me any help Thankyou for reading !!

Sounds like the sync's are messed up. You can do that yourself if you're mechanically inclined. But it's a tricky thing to do. Do a search for camaro synconizers replacement or something like that and you should come up with a detailed guide with pics. I used to have it saved but don't anymore.

Denice25, I'm not trying to come down on you here. But why did you just post what I just told him? That's just one of my pet peevs. It's just post horing and clutters up the thread. If you have something else pertaining to the thread please post, but please do not post what someone else has already said.

here's a couple aritcles for you to read over. I'll keep looking for the guide I mentioned above for you.

http://www.popularhotrodding.com/tec...ion/index.html
http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...ld/repair.html

Here's T56 service manual: http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...-0610-0199.pdf

Here's a guide, not the one I was looking for, but it should work for you, it's pretty detailed: http://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tra...-write-up.html

I found most of this from searching T56 rebuild, so you can look at that also if you have any more questions. I hope this helps you out.

When i worked at the dealer the two jobs I saw botched by mechanics where setting up read ends and manual transmission. I think it is a training thing. No service manager would ask an untrained mechanic to rebuild a automatic but he would ask a guy that had never had a manual apart to repair one. There are a lot of special tools and you need to be carful how you put thing together. If you press on or pull off a bearing wrong you will damage it. In many ways I am the first guy to say go for it but know whats at stake. If you pull the tranny you should be able to get sync done by a pro with the tools for $600 (Sorry its been awhile and I don't know current price.) I do know if you damage the counter gear that $600 will seem cheap.

That's true, if you pull it yourself which isn't a bad job, you can take it and get it done and it'll be cheaper, prob 600 or so like gorn said. That's prob you're best bet there.
