Default Busy Weekend/beginning the BUILD!

So this weekend was eventful.
Took four days off of work.
Emptied my bank account.
Installed SLP intake lid.
Installed Kook LT headers.
Installed OR Y's.
Installed Magnaflow 3" exhaust w/ 3.5" stainless Borla angled rolled exhaust tips.
Installed Eibach lowering springs in the front/drag launch springs in the rear.
Installed Edelbrock 52876 complete sway bars.
Ordered Mickey Thompson ET street radial and ET drag wheels.
Ordered FAST 92mm TB and intake manifold.
Taking it in for a full tune tomorrow before i head back to work.

All in all i was quite pleased with myself. The fiancee quite enjoys watching me work on the car, so I had that added benefit, and to top it off she got me my birthday present a month early. (For those who don't know she got me a brand new LS1 short block for a complete build.)

Now the fun really begins. But I'm stuck. I had decided to go with a supercharged 402 stroker, but as I'm looking at my funds I've changed my mind. I'm gonna go with a 383 nitrous build. Unfortunately, having been a ricer in the precious 6 years of my driving life, this is a monumental projet to me. My question is.... where do i start? I want to have all the rear end/gearing, subframe, etc done before I finish the build, and am looking at having the build completed within 1-3 months (unless the pocketbook says no.)

I was considering ordering all necessary parts in two runs with the next two paychecks, and (hopefully) having the rest of the family pitch in parts for my birthday.

I know I'm going with Callies DragonSlayer crankshaft, and CompCam XtremeRPM XR265HR, but other than that I'm at a loss. What should I do for the pistons? Flat?/Dished? What's the difference there? Push rods? And reluctor wheel? 24x/58x? Difference there?

Thanks in adavance for all your answers!

P.S. Pictures of all the work this weekend will be up as soon as i convince my computer the files are not corrupted! (GRR! lol)

hmm sounds really nice. look at diamond forged pistons probably just flat top. and any chromoly pushrod will do. the difference is usually in the compression there's a reverse dome piston that is supposed to hav more strength but i never looked into it.

what are the specs of that cam? not to big in the lsx engines so idk the cams. why not 402 nitrous motor? any idea on a nitrous kit? id recommend lookin at nitrous outlet good place. lookin forward to readin up on this. what other suspension plans? heads? rear?

The cams specs r .522/.529 212/218 114 LSA 1200-6000 rpm range.

Not going the 402 route b/c its a little more pricey, both in parts, and in gas mileage.

The nitrous kit I'm planning on going with is this one: http://www.nitrousdirect.com/LS2-Nitrous.html

Not really sure what I want to do with the heads, was looking at the Dart Pro but really not sure, suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm leaning towards 4.10 gears, don't see the point in 3.73, and I can't decide between a 9 inch or 12 bolt rear end. Some pros/cons on that point would be appreciated, as well.

The only other thing I have in concrete on the suspension is SLP strut tower braces, and BMR subframe connectors.

names to look at in heads that i hear alot about is patriot, trickflow, and afr. you should probably look into that more though cuz like i said im an ltx guy. the cam idk but to me the specs seem a bit small for a 383 i would look into possibly a bigger one.

the rear is kinda on you. i went 9" to handle the power and to handle the 6 speed. a 12 bolt will hold a ton of power but if your doin alot of drag racing and hard launches you might get some gear whine. the 9" will handle anything and the gears shouldnt start to whine ever. as for gear size you should try a gear calculator to figure out wat gear for wat size tire your using.

for suspension make sure you look into shocks torque arm and lca's. whats the cars purpose goin to be DD street/strip drag only? and ive heard good things about those n2o kits

Edit: for heads look on www.totalengineairflow.com they have alot of the top of the line heads for lsx motors and also can do some good work on your stock lsx heads.

I kinda want to go with the small cam, since its gonna be a DD slash sometimes racer, and gas mileage can be a ***** with 93 octane.
On the 9", wheres the best place to order one?

i think the best price ive seen on a moser 9" was from exoticperformanceplus.com (i think) also a good priced rear is from midwest chassis they make a fabricated 9" built the way you want wit many good cheap upgrades. check them both out. and as for the cam id check with a shop or someone that knows more then me but a 383/a stroker motor eats up lift and duration making a mild cam lik mentioned even more mild.

not sayin its a bad cam or wrong just sayin check with a shop because there may be better for the motor that will keep drivability and gas milage

you want a bigger dish in your piston if you're going FI to lower the compression.

look into speed inc for a 9"...www.speedinc.com
