battery question
Ok just bought my second 4th gen and the guy i bought it from let it sit so the battery went dead but the dash lights would still come on real dim. I tried jumping it and my cables are junk so i put the battery on a charger for a couple hours and put the battery back in and now the dinger dings when I open the door but nothing happens at all when i turn the key. Is there a safety switch i tripped? or is my battery just junk? kinda a dumb question but anything will help thanks alot
If a battery sits over time the cells will start to deteriorate, a drop in voltage and ultimately a bad battery. The reason your dash lights are dim and you hear the dings but wont crank is because the battery is putting out just enough voltage to power some electrical configurations within the car but isnt enough to activate the crank sensor, the starter, flywheel etc. The starter solenoid needs a certain amount of voltage to crank the engine and spark plugs from the distributor. A new battery may just solve the issue.
