Another v6-v8 swap question...
I was thinking of doing the v6 swap on my 95 3.4 because the insurance will be the same as a v6, and I figured it would EVENTUALLY pay off. I was wondering if this was a good deal
"I have an LT-1 out of a 1994 Camaro. This engine has around 145k miles on it. We started it before I pulled it out. I've got the 4L60E auto transmission to go with it. Parts that are included with this swap are: computer, wiring harness, torque convertor, tranny cooler, and I have a new B&M floor shifter with console cover, and cable for 4 speed auto. Theres everthing to complete a swap. I'm asking $1000obo."
All I would need is the suspension parts, gage clusters, maybe reroute the fuel line and new pump, plus mounts and a radiator and it would be a decent project right?
BTW I would be doing the labor myself.

Before the swap you might want to spend a little money on the a overhaul of the engine. If nothing else replacing all your gaskets and seals. I would personally take it to a shop have the crank turned and balanced real good, add new bearings, and have her cleaned up real good for a new set of rings. At the very least. If you wanted to spend a little more punching her out for a good set of forged pistons would be a good investment to help you pull a few more ponies out of the old girl.

I wish I would of had that luxury when the engine was installed on my car. The guy I bought it from had it put in by American Engine Installation in SLC Utah. They charged him 5 grand for a longblock and as far as I had found all they have done was changed the block. All the electronics are from the old engine, waterpump, even the opti.

weird question...good luck putting that motor into your car. there's not much room in the engine bay anyway and you want to stuff a 454 in it? why? yeah its possible, but you will be cutting whole lots of stuff off your car. expect to have at least 7 grand in it. good luck
