Well, you can pretty much guess. Look up GM prices and look up AutoZone or Napa prices. Those are generally the ranges you can expect, GM being the highest, parts suppliers being moderate.

Explain to the mechanic that you need to spend as little as possible. Ask if there are things that can wait and is it safe to drive that way. Understand that he has a buisness and needs to make $$$$$ but I think if you explain to him money is tight, he will understand.

ok, i called him and he said that he should have it fixed to where hes comfortable with the security module working and running by 2morrow night, meaning ill have my baby back and then he can look at my cooling system on saturday! im soooooo relieved!

How much was it? I got a steering column for 100.00 off ebay. Swapped the resistor out of the old key into the new key. Fuel pump still don't work, I'm getting a 255 lph one next pay check.

hey usarmyrangrs do you think a chevy dealership would hire a 16 year old as a lot boy? what about an independent shop hiring me as a starting mechanic just for like a job over the winter? do think they would hire me to learn or am i too young because im looking for a new job.

They might hire you... might not, depends on your history, you probably wouldnt be working on cars anytime soon.

As for the cost, 400 after labor and parts at 40 bucks and hour. Then im bringing my car back to him saturday so he can check out my cooling system and fix my heater.
