Default ABS Inop & ASR lights on. 97 Z28.

Ok, both lights come on after driving 100yds or so. I have removed and cleaned both rear wheel sensors and checked the output from them at the connector under the car. A voltmeter shows a "ripple" signal when I spin the wheel, not exact science I know but proves the circuit. I have scanned for codes and nothing is there. Can the front sensors have any effect ? Any other ideas. Thanks.

Check the fronts as well. You could also have a bad flexi-wire dealy (I don't know what they actually call them, but I believe it's a special type of wire for the fronts).

Thanks, just looked in the parts manual and it looks like there is only one front sensor on the drivers side wheel ?? Is this correct or is the manual just showing one side for clarity. I'll check under the front at the weekend and let you know what I find.

You should have one per wheel if you have TCS, but there are always two in the front.

Before throwing money and parts at the car geit it scanned with a poroper ABS scanner. Most scanners will not pick up ABS/ASR codes.

Finally got around to looking at the fronts. Checked the output from both front sensors and all seems ok. No obvious damage to the flexi wires, reseated the connectorsa few times. Put some new disc pads in while it was jacked up. No problems since. Either a connector was poor or I have moved the flexi wires and made the connection. Will see if the fault comes back.. Thanks for the suggestions.

My car was doing the same thing for a little while (intermittently) and it just went away on it's own. *shrugs* Sometimes it happens..
