Generally, EGR valve is working by the PCM at cruising MPH, not at idle and nor does it control idle.

Which is why if there is a defective part that is allowing the EGR valve to open at idle it causes problems. If you are 100 percent sure that EGR valve is sealed and you disconnect it and the car has idle issue then its not the problem.

Yes I’m sure their is no problems with egr system.i have checked the wiring as well and it seemed to be good.when I go back to school next week I’ll test the valve with the computer but it’s new. When I unplug it does nothing to it at idle.what could cause a funny idle? It’s not missing for sure.it will idle funny sometimes with ac off as well.im new to Chevy and so far I want to set it on fire lol.but for 500 bucks and looks good I’ll deal with it lol.

have you cleared the codes yet. unhook battery. if you want to clear all your systems, take both battery cables off and hold them together for a bit, maybe 20-30 seconds. that resets everything. if you have a amp with a capasitor unhook it before hand. the full reset will result in everything having to relearn settings so a few rough starts and running may happen.

Just a FYI tracking down idle issues can be one of the hardest things to do, The smaller the issue the tuffer the process. See just about anything evolved with the fuel/Emission/ignition systems will show up as a idle issue first and as it gets worse it will become more obvious what is wrong.
