97 z28 vats bypass, security light off, still no crank
Hello I need help with an issue I'm having with my 97 z28, about 2 weeks ago now my security light came on after I came out my house to start my car and just stayed solid no flashing just a solid security light, it wouldn't crank or anything and so far I've tried a new key which did nothing and did the vats bypass with a resistor matching the key, this turned the security light off but it still will not crank or start? What do I do now?

I believe the security system grounds a relay that needs to be opened up so the key will power the starter. If manually ground that relay and it works you would know it is not the security system. After that you are just going to have to get a manual and can start tracing the power and see where it stops. There is still the ignition switch, the neutral safety switch or clutch safety switch, the main junction going under the hood and all their connectors that could cause the issue.
I can only speak on the 93 z28 I have but the relay and the security module is on the right side of the glove box in a really hard place to get at. I am sure that was on purpose. I believe there is also a small fuse in the fuse box that will only light with the key is pushed forward to the start position. If that is seeing power then the ignition switch is working. You really need details about the system so you can follow the power flow.
