97 B4C question
My neighbor has a 97 B4C he is wanting to sell. The only problem I have pulling the trigger on it is the way it’s titled,, title calls it a Camaro RS, says nothing about Z28 ect. He has documents stating it came from Indiana State Police. Everything is correct on car as being a B4C vehicle. Is this normal on these cars to have odd titles ? I don’t have access to the VIN at this time,,they are out of town.
Thanks

He has owned the car since 2002,, I got the VIN today. It checks out as a 97 B4C w/ 5.7 . Car has 68k in excellent condition polo green / gray cloth,,except for 4 holes in headliner where the pursuit lights were interior is perfect just dirty,,said I could have it at $4500. I’m thinking that’s not bad.

Being a B4C car helps its value but being a X police cars hurts in value even more. At auction X police car run under the same light as a R titled car because of the abuse they see. Back in the day a nice crown vic non-police car would sell for twice what the same X police car would sell for. The Camaros primary use was pursuit which means they car sat idling all day long until it was time to run all out for 15 to 20 minutes. That is the life of a race car. These cars can be completely worn out mechanically at 50,000 miles. Because 50,000 miles is actually an insane amount of run hours.
There are BC4 cars out there that have never been cop cars. DON"T base the value of this car off of those cars. IMO the price of this car is too high. Even if it was A BC4 car non police car clean as can be its still not worth what a 97 SS is worth.
