Default 96 lt1 head porting

i am thinking of porting my stock lt1 heads to flow better with the edelbrock air gap tunnel ram design intake part # 7107. is it just the inlets where the intake Meets the heads. can i do it with a dremel? couldi just eye ball it and make it smooth as possible? keep in mind i have never ported b4. if its just the inlets can i just stuff rags in the heads with them still bolted on not to get shavings in them? the reason for the porting i want to make more power but the cheap way dont have the money for the heads. and this is the next step in my project. already done exhaust and optispark, 160 T-stat, going to do headers along with the head porting. any info or suggestions you have would be a great help.

If you've never done any porting before I suggest saving the money to get a professional to do it. You could end up damaging the heads beyond repair if you don't do it right. It's not worth it.

^^ 100% agree, it is very easy to hurt air flow and not even know it. I would never reccomend trying to port heads with them still on the engine. Besides all that, if all your doing is a port match your only going to pick up a couple of HP, the real gains are in the runners and bowl areas. Porting is not somthing for a vovice to attempt.
