Hey guys my father recently gave me the keys to his zr28 Camaro and I would like to know the history of these ZR28Cause I can't find anything about them why are they so rare and no one knows of them?
I wouldn't say they're rare, 4th gens are getting old and many have been parted out or wrecked etc.
They weren't a big seller for Chevy but they did make quite a few,I had a '93 z28 for quite a few years.
1993-1997 had the LT1 motor and 1998-2002 had the LS1 with a different front end, Chevy discontinued the Camaro after 2002 until it was revived in 2010 with the new body style.
Edit: didn't catch the ZR

looks like it was an aftermarket shop that did it for a short time but was not approved of by chevy. seems they are all different maybe according to what owner was willing to pay. found this thread https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...ics-added.html
I never heard of it until this posts so I googled it. Seems like a someone wants some of the SLP action. SLP is the company that built the SS Camaro. You could order many aftermarket parts you wanted and they made a few custom parts themselves like the hood and the rear spoiler. SLP contracted with GM to use the SS logo making the SS a GM option anywhere. Since the SS was not available until 96 it makes sense that would be a popular year for the ZR28.
I like the way they used a name that sounded like a GM name. ZR from the Monster Vet that was available at that time. Got to wonder how many people thought they where getting the ZR engine out of the vet.
