Default 95 z28 bose audio system

Does anyone have the GM and or Bose part #'s for the original speakers? Do they have amps for each speaker? If so does anyone have those part #'s? Wanting to restore car as close to stock as possible, except the engine internals. Anyway, if anyone has this info, I'd appreciate it.

odds are even with part numbers youll never get oem speakers that are any good (there 16 years old just get nice new ones from bose) as for the amp there is just one and if im not mistaken its located behind the pass side rear fender in the trunk also i dont think youll be able to get that either (new) maybe out of the junkyard

I'm in the process of improving the stereo in my 94 V6; it has the Delco Bose system.

For 93 and 94 the Bose speaker system option code was U82 and included only 3 speakers: one in the left door, one in the right door, and one all the way at the back of the car (the subwoofer).

I checked out the 4th Generation parts manual pdf. It says:

left door speaker = 16204531
right door speaker = 16204521
subwoofer = 16204541

For 95 the system was improved by adding 2 more speakers, one on either side of the rear seat. The head unit stayed the same but the 3 speakers used for 93/94 were changed. The Delco Bose option code became U65.

left door speaker = 16196771
right door speaker = 16196791
subwoofer = 16196781

rear seat speakers (2) = 16215431

I contacted Bose and asked about speakers for my 94. They said they're available but I didn't ask about price. I'm pretty sure i don't want to know...

I'm going to hold off becasue I'm hoping to find a wrecked 95 or 96 in the junkyard. I'll pull the whole system from that car and see how the 5 speaker system sounds. Then I'll revisit the new speaker issue.

OK I go through this with one of my friends all the time. Why (other than to keep it factory) would you want to use a paper cone speaker that was designed in the 80's that will cost you around $200 a pop when you can get quality, modern speakers that have higher fidelity, better sound, modern materials (plastics used in the cone anyone) and all 4 for the price of one? You can hook the new speakers up to the little bose amps that are in each speaker station and even though the new speakers are 4 ohm and the factory were 2ohm you will not notice a difference in volume, and the amp will not be overloaded. You cant see the new speakers they are behind mesh grilles which mean unless you remove the grilles no one will ever know. Yes the system had the bose name on it. Would you believe it if I told you that GM has been getting their decks and speakers from Bose since the 80's and it was Blaupunk (sp sry) before that? This was just a way for GM and Bose to promote their products to gain an edge over the 4 letter "F" word. Yes the Bose system did use higher quality speakers than the Delco system (which was made by Bose) but it was not the same quality as you could get from aftermarket sources even then.

The single amp system that BC talkes about is part of the Monsoon system. The bose system has one mini amp per speaker. The Monsoon system has 8 speakers all together, a 2" tweeter and a 6.5" midrange per door (on seperate channels) 2 6.5" subs in the rear seats and 2 4" mids in the rear compartment. The amp is behind the spare tire.

Hey, if you can point me to plastic coned speakers that will drop into the Bose amplified speaker housings I'm all ears. I know a lot about many things automotive but audio systems is not one of those things. I'm just concerned about something that fits without butchering (no duct tape or drywall screws, please) and sounds good.

WHere can I find out more about the Monsoon system. I think I might have that in my 93. I noticed it has the 4" speakers in the far back.

The stock Delco system had 4 speakers, 2 4" in the rear and 2 6.5" in the doors. Nothing in the rear seats.

Monsoon has an Amp behind the spare tire (black box with about 100 wires going to it) and 8 speakers total around the car. The rear seat speakers are actually subs. Oh and finding aftermarket subs in the 6.5" variety is crazy $$$. The head unit should say Monsoon. Convertables were not able to get Monsoon untill 99 or 00 due to no where to put the amp.
