Question 95 Z28 5.7L -Coolant light on dashboard

Luv my Zed, bought it a year ago and since put about 25,000Km's on it.

Coolant light on dash won't go out... rad and overflow are both full.

My guy says sensor in bottom of overflow is all gummed up.

Is he right..?

Any advice would be appreciated,
ZN.

Pretty much right. Its a very very common issue on the LT1 engines. They get gummed up. You can just unplug it or you can remove it and clean it, or simply replace it. Depends on how deep you feel like going into it

Thanks mr. Nj85z28..!

I'm guessing the connector that needs cleaning must be at the bottom of the overflow and can be reached from underneath..?

If it got gummed up you gotta wonder why. Check the coolant for notorious dexcool sludge.

coolant level sensor is on the passenger side if the radiator just below the radiator cap.

My guess would be no. I ran my car for the first few months I had it with the coolant light on, and the sensor has been unhooked for about 2 1/2 years. The car runs strong and the temperature gauge worked both before and after I unhooked the sensor.
