Default 94 z28 Electrical problems?

In the past two days i have had 3 failed attempts when i go to turn the ignition on. I go to start my car and nothing happens. I turn the key back into the off position, give it a few seconds, and try it again and it works. Im at a loss as to what could be causing this problem and how to go about fixing it. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

PS: for the last month or so my stereo has also been giving me some problems like not turning on when i turn the car on.

Do you immediately try and crank it, or do you give it a few seconds on the first time?

i had the same problem with my 94 when i first got it. it ended up being a bad security module which ended up costing me 650 to replace. i didnt know about bypassing it back then.

your key has a resistor on it which the car has to recognize before it will allow it to start, if the cardoesnt recognize the key whenyou try, you get locked out from it starting for a few minutes. u can always just bypass the that security module so the car doesnt have to recognize the resisitor on the key, which would most likely fix the problem. i believe there is a pinned topic on how to do that. if u want to keep that security feature, then i would recommend checking to make sure the security module is getting a signal, and if it is sending out a signal as well.

My 94 when it was having this problem, wouldnt start if i put the key in and the security light did not come on when i turned it to the on position, if it did come on, it would start, but it was hit and miss.

I put the key in turn it to the on position and let it sit for a few seconds before starting the car. Im going to keep a eye out for the security light when i go to start it in the future and see if that is the problem.

When the security lite is lit the engine will not crank. Try a new or spare key, the pellet may be bad or the contacts worn out.
