help! my 94 z28 is jerking when I accelerate and the clutch is fully released...for some reason if I keep the clutch pressed down a bit while accelerating it doesn't jerk, it happens mostly on 1st gear and sometimes on 2nd gear. It's embarassing, if Im on a red light and try to accelerate to cut of the lane over it jerks (stalls) then continues to go....it also has a bad smell....a mechanic I went to says its a missfire?

 

Misfire sounds just about right. Time for plugs & plug wires. If that does not work you may have to look at fuel delivery and maybe a new opti.

 

^^^ agree, how old are the opti, plugs and plug wires? sure sounds like a bad wire failing under high stress.
