Since it happens on weather weird conditions, í´ll suggest checking , cleaning or replacing the maf sensor......this is prone to idle the car in different weather conditions...try to take it out, and clean it with carb cleaner from a safe distance and be careful with the tiny wires in it.....good luck !

You almost got it man.

Apparently it was a bad wire in the steering column. That was fixed and it appears that it's done the trick with it, I'll have to wait and see if it keeps moving without any problems. I'll find out this Friday.

Hi, my name is Jim. I'm new to this site. Quick question on the wiring in the steering column. My 95 Z is cutting off after 15 minutes of warm up. Then it won't start for about an hour. It's also running rich. which wire was it? Could someone help out please?
1995 Z28, stock except heads have been ported, 58mm intake, 54mm TB, 8.8 wires, exhaust and cold air intake.

The wire was worn out because of the tilting apparently. I didn't repair it personally so I don't know but it was a wire in the steering column.

Keep us posted if you figured it out. Some day someone comes along one of these posts and it helps em out, you know?

OH MY GOD! Finally. I have spent so much money on this car. I would have burned it a long time ago if I didn't love it so much. Turns out Camaro guys, that this problem wound up being the knock sensor. When the engine would come up to temp., the sensor would expand and the internal contacts would seperate causing the car to shut down until it cooled off enough for the contacts to touch again. Really sucks but I finally got it fixed. Add all this up and see what figure you come up with. All parts were purchased at Autozone. Distributor, Cap & rotor, Plug wires, plugs, coil, ICM, PCM, Throttle position sensor, Knock sensor, MASS Air flow sensor, Battery, Alternator, New VATS key and tumbler, and tool to install the lockplate in the steering column. I still need new tires for next months Autocross.

Knock sensor huh? Wow, who would've thought.

Thanks for sharing the solution.
