Default stalls sometimes...

I have an '88 with a 305 TBI. About half of the time when I start my car, it starts right up and then immediately dies. I have to press on the gas pedal to keep the rpm's high enough so it won't stall. If I let off the pedal the rpm's drop below 400 and it stalls. The other half of the time it starts right up and idles between 1000 and 1500 rpm's. It doesn't matter wether it's hot or cold and there doesn't appear to be any type of pattern. I never know when I go to start the car in the morning what its going to do that day. Any ideas?

I'd get it checked out, but if you have a spare thirty or so bucks lying around, try replacing your Throttle Position Sensor. I had the same problem and it did the trick for me...Whenever I'd come to a redlight I used to have to pop my iroc in neutral and just rev it. Hope that helps...Cya

I have a 1992 camaro and my car did the same thing. Whenever i would stop at the stop sighns and stop lights my car would die. If your car acceleration is not as good as it use to be, it also could be your vacuum lines. It could be broken or cracked somewhere.

I have a similar problem as you Cpu, but its only after i have to break hard. And even then its only part of the time, it will start right back up, but its still doin it. It dies sounding like its not gettin enough fuel. I changed the filter praying that would be a cheap easy way out of it, but oh no, still stallin.
