I was just doing more looking on the net and found the 94 is just the opposite of that. "94 3.4's Use The Obd-1 Connector But The Obd-ii Baud Rate".. Does that sound possible?

The way it works:
1) Up to and including the 93 models are OBDI, and the codes can be flashed.
2) 94 are straight OBDI but will not flash codes. A real scanner is needed, plain code readers won't work.
3) 95 are OBDI, but use a OBDII test connector. So you need an OBDI scanner with a cord that has an OBDII end, or a scanner that does both OBDI and OBDII.
4) 96 and newer are straight OBDII.
5) If using a PC you will need the proper software and a cable to fit the type of test port your car uses.

the 3140 is better it has live data feed which means you can plug it in drive and see what your car is doing at that time but if thats not important get the 3120

Amazon.com: INNOVA 3140 Diagnostic Code Scanner for OBDI and OBDII Vehicles: Automotive

to me the data log is worth the extra 50 bucks

i have a 3140 and it would not scann a 95. does the 93 but only shows codes, does not have running info like my 97 truck shows on the same scanner.
