Exclamation 94 camaro engine swap questions.

i just bought a 94 camaro witha 3.4L V6 with a 5 speed manual trans. the engine went out and i would like to know if i could swap in a LT1. is it a direct bolt in swap or not? also if that is just too much work would swaping in a 3.8L engine from a 97 camaro work well? im trying to spend the least money as possible.im leaning towards the 3.8L option because hopefully its a simple bolt in swap. or also could you swap in a old 350 from the 70s into it? any help, answers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks

ill save the older members from having to say it, search it, its not worth it, no u cant use an old sbc without cutting the firewall, LT1 or LS1 would be better off selling the v6 and buying the v8, yes its possible, but you dont want to do it.

Take a look at my thread. I had a ls1/6 speed combo I sold because I did want to swap it in my 97 RS 3.8l. So I went ahead and bought a 2000 3.8L motor and trans. Bolted right up but had to change alot, brakes, body harness. well to much for me, With what I did for this 2000 3.8l swap in my 1997 Rs I could have kept my ls1 combo. But what im doing is the same thing you will have to do to do a v8 swap. Good luck

You want to avoid crossing the 1996, OBD2 line. 3.8 is just as much work as the V8, We did have one member do a convertion like that. He did get it figured out in the end. You will have problem with the Vats system.

ive been toying with the idea of a 4.3 V6 swap in mine. It may be short enough to avoid cutting the firewall for the dist. unless i go vortec and use coil packs. Just a thought there for ya too!

How does the length of the motor effect where it is in relation to the Firewall? That is a lot of work to do just to put in a 180 hp V6
