Default 93 rpm troubles

I have a 93 camaro with the 3.4 motor and recently my car decided to quit going over 4200 rpm. heres what was all done in an attempt to fix this problem...new plugs/wires, o2 censor, ignition module, tested coils(ok),fuel filter, tested fuel pressure(ok), unplugged knock sensor(didnt help), replaced map sensor, new air filter, pulled cat to see if clogged, none of this made any difference and im getting a bit annoyed having to replace all this crap that doesnt need it if any one has any ideas please let me know thankyou

Does the car start misfiring, or it just won't rev any higher?

and i probably should have mentioned that it wont upshift when i punch it cuz the rpm diesnt go high enough which is how i found out about the problem when driving casually there is no problem shifting at all. a buddy of mine goes to wyotech and he thinks its the tranny but id doesnt make sense to because it not getting to the high rpm it needs to shift

You may want to check out the cat converter. They can partially clog up and as the engine tries to speed up the backpressure holds it back and won't let it rev any higher.
