4l60e rebuild

I just recently finished rebuilding my 4l60e out of a 94 z28 and i was wondering if anyone knows how to reset the tranny learn if i just disconnect the battery cable or do i need a scan tool.

trans adapts are in memory regardless of the battery.
the tech 2 can handle that no sweat. some guys outside the dealer have them.
