3057 vs. 3157 bulbs (front turn signal)
So the Einstein who owned my RS before me had a 3057 bulb in the front turn signal, but should have been a 3157. The filaments were actually fine, but the plastic base was destroyed and the socket had a brown fried look to it. So clearly something was not right.
However looking at the specs of each bulb #, they seem mostly identical...
So what is the difference between these bulbs anyhow?

I think you mean running light, since the 3157 is in the front?
That wouldn't explain why the socket got all fried up, though. Unless you mean the 3057 has a brighter parking light...

I think Camaros are famous for having front Left turn signal issues. I had my car a week and had to replace the bulb twice. The socket looked all brown and the top of one of the bulbs had blown off (Talk about a blown bulb)
I have not read a good explanation of why the bulb blows. The best I read so far is it is heat related.
I shot some contact cleaner into the socket and replaced it with a different bulb and it has been fine since. The bulb I had was already on my shelf. My guess it was a 3057. Less bright, less heat, less problems
