3.8 tranny rebuild
How much do you guys think it would cost to have the transmission and torque converter rebuilt? i got a free estimate today from aamco for $2000 and i don't know if the guy's takin me for a ride or if thats a deal

I got my transmission rebuilt and upgraded with stronger clutches and parts for $650. But it was a side-job from a guy I know around here. Other places quoted me $850 to about $1500. Didn't do anything with the torque converter though.

Not much of a car person so correct me if I am wrong, but doesnt the torque converter = automatic and the clutch = manual?

yeah its an automatic, and i can get a brand new transmission for 1600 and a new torque converter for a couple hundred plus labor would be more expensive and the guy doing the rebuild is going to warranty it for 3 years or 36k miles
