Default 1998 Camaro Wipers issue

Hi i have a 1998 3.8L camaro. When i turn on the windsheild wipers they dont do anything at all. But when i push the handle so it sprays the windsheild and the wipers come on they work. What should i do and where should i start? I also notice the yellow button for the rear hatch doesent work also should i check my fuse box?

The fuses would be a good place to start. If you have good fuses, then check the switch for the wipers and the pushbutton for the hatch release. Should be able to ohm out the switch to the hatch but not sure about the wiper switch. Might have to take the steering column apart to locate the connectors for it.

well i bough the car about 2 weeks ago. this is the first time ive noticed them not working but im not sure when they quit. i called a dealership and they said somthing about a wiper motor trans comming apart. if i took the cowl out and took the motor out and put a light tester to it i should get power when the switch in the colum is turned on? and if i dont get power than i know its the switch i really hate taking about the colum

to change the switch u change the blinker handle, at least thats were mine is. easy to change. wiper motor is under the hood up in a cubby hole behind the driver side hood hinge. pita. this is from my 93 book

On a related note, has anyone ever encountered the wipers failing to fully retract when switched off? My wipers suddenly remain in the position they should only be in between delay swipes and do not retract when I switch them off.

yes i have and its in the circuit board in the cover ***. i think u can get just the cover assembly but if your going to pull it apart and go threw the hassle u may want to change the complete wiper motor assembly. thats what i did.
