Default 1997 Camaro RS Question

i own a 97 camaro rs. I was told they come with the y87 rearend package. Im kinda confused on what exactly that is. the car seems to only wanna spin 1 tire.

please help

Some do. If it came stock with dual exhaust and disc brakes it is a Y87. Other features include a limited slip rearend w/3.42 gears, and the same steering package as the V8.

well it has dual exhaust but only front brakes are disk

Open the drivers door and check the sticker on the end. Look for a G80 code and a GU6 or GU5 code. By the way, not all RSs came with the Y87. I know first hand. [&:] If it has the GU4 code, it is not a Y87.

well if you were talking about under the service parts indicator. The code with G in it is GU4

That's it. Seems you were misinformed about having a Y87. Welcome to the one tire fire club.

lol yep. plan on dropping a v8 in it if i can get one for a good price
