Default 1997 camaro 3.8 v6 oil sensor question

I noticed my oil pressure is dancing around, i unplugged the connector that goes into the sensor and it has alot of oil in the connector and up inside the sensor where the plug connects. The sensor sticks out far enough where i do not think the oil is coming from a back leak or anything like that. Could the inside of the sensor leak oil back out into the wire connector?? It is sure what it looks like

Looks like new sensor time. These things have a habit of leaking.

Rule of thumb: if there is oil in the switch where the (sealed) plug goes, the switch is bad.

Question? I put the new one in and the pressure does not dance around anymore it just sits at around 40 even while driving, which seems way lower than what it used to read when my old sensor worked. Also how far do i need to screw it into the block, the old one was only in around 4 threads deep, so i did this one the same...still alot of threads showing....any advice is appreciated

Does the pressure go down at idle, and up at higher rpm's, or is it constantly sitting at 40 (which isn't right). Install the pressure switch by feel, getting it very snug but not way tight, don't wanna snap it. And hopefully you used Teflon tape or pipe dope on the threads to prevent leaks.
