1997 Camaro LT1 - New Fuel pump hissing help
I recently had a fuel pump replaced at a garage and they used a Spectra Fuel Pump that I believe they purchased from Napa Auto Parts.
The application is:
1997 Camaro - 5.7 LT1
The car runs better with the new fuel pump however, this new pump seems very loud. When you turn the car over, you can hear a very loud hissing noise coming from the rear of the car. Is this normal? The factory pump was never loud and even though the car is running better with the new pump, I need to make sure they installed it correctly or that the pump is not faulty.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

I had my Airtex installed about a day when it got loud. I stopped by the part store and let them hear it. They offered to give me a new one. Two installs later I got a good one. 6 months later it is still quite.

The car seems to be running ok and I really don't want to drop the gas tank again or have the shop drop it again if I don't need to.
It seems to get quiter after I drive it for a bit but when I first turn it over - its kinda loud. It was a whole new assembly as well, sending unit plus fump that was changed.
Not sure if this Spectra brand is any good but thats what they said they put in there. They told me the airtex one looked like junk, something about the clamps and it being plastic....not sure.

Noisy pump don't last long. These are hi reving pumps and noise = vibration and vibration = a short life. Hopfully it will louder before it fails. You might want to search the fuel pump hatch options. Saved me a ton of time now I can swap a pump in about 30 minutes.
