Default 1995 Z28 with acceleration issues

Recently my Z28 hasnt been getting up to speed as fast as it used to.
Ive noticed it feels like its shifting through gears slower than before ( I think; and its an automatic by the way)
Its also been doing something else odd; if I hit the gas hard while moving, it falls flat on its face- the engine tach's up but the car doesnt get moving, until it suddenly gets the burst of power.

Im afraid its my transmission or my rear differntial at this point.
I figured Id hit up this wonderful wealth of knowledge before I started tinkering too vigorously or going to a mechanic. : )

Thanks,

Pete

How does the tranny fluid look/smell? Is it filled to the proper level? If it is dark and has a burnt smell, it probably needs a fresh fluid and filter change.

The transfluid is the correct color and hasnt been overheating or burning at all.
Its also the correct level.

I don't know how much this can relate, but my 3.4 does the exact same thing. If you floor it it revs to like 5 and goes hardly anywhere, but after a slight gas let off it will surge forward. Any suggestions?

well I had a tranny guy look at mine another time, and all he gave me was a couple leaks. He even test drove it. It could be the problem, but idk if he would have missed it?
