Okay, what are your rpms if you stick the shifter manually into first gear and travel at 35mph?

 

did you adjust the shift cable yet? if your cable is not adjusted right it will not go into first manually.

 

Shift cable hasn't been adjusted and it's at around 2400-2500 rpm at 35 mph. It's in second gear not first it will not go into first manually MKCoconuts that's the problem

 

adjust the cable like it says in the link i provided. if that does not work unhook the shift cable or lever from the trans and see if it goes into first without it hooked up. should be able to feel it click to each differing gear. if it is clicking into first gear but not actually going to first then its internal. something is bent.

 

This my first post also, I have a 94 z28, and when I first start the car It will start in 1st gear and go all the way to o/d fine, but after I leave 1st I cannot go back,automatically or with the shifter in first,i can cut the car off and restart it and it will start in first again. the car also rarely down shifts by itself, if I come to a stop while in o/d I will start in 4th. Does yours also do this?,I have 4.11 gears if it makes a difference

 

Are you meaning the lever won't physically go into the first gear position? Or its in the first location but staying in second
