I have an 87 iroc z/ z28, convertible, it has the 305tpi with the 5speed manual transmission, could i swap the engine for the 350tpi? Or will i have to change alot of stuff? And would the convertible be able to handle it?

 

It's a rather easy swap. The convertable should be able to handle it since they come stock with frame connectors. I would recommend doing the swap. I have a 91 that had the 305 tpi in it and I just finished swapping to a carbed 350 and love it. Everyone told me that my tranny wouldn't be able to handle it but so far it has held up just fine. I put a zoom street/strip clutch in that works great. pretty quick I will have my limited slip rear end rebuilt with a 3.73 ratio and will take it out to the track to see how everything still holds up to a little abuse. But one thing I will say is that I think my tranny is stronger than yours. I'm pretty sure my tranny is the world class or whatever, which was only used in 90-92 i believe. So you might run into trouble with your stock tranny. especially if you leave the tpi setup on... they make a lot of low end torque
