timing!

Default timing!

hey...i just bought a 84 camaro an it has some timing issues...im wondering wats the proper specs it needs to be set at...need some help lol

Different V8's have different settings, which is why repair manuals don't give specs, but instead tell you to follow the instructions on the VECI (vehicle emissions control information) label under the hood.

Hey bro dont know if you found out whats wrong with your engine, but yea let me know if you still having issues with it. i just got done installing brand new parts to my lil 305, and now its running like a champ. i could be some help

need to know what motor, what sort of fuel delivery, and what trans it has. chiltons has a listing in the manual for base timing specs and procedure

If its a stock motor, I doubt its a timing issue. What problems are you having with it?

If you have a 305 with a carburetor and with the stock dizzy, the initial timing should be 8 degrees BTDC.

well and good advice EXCEPT usually that oh so important sticker is long gone by the time we buy our cars
