Default Temp sending unit

I am putting in a 350 into my 1983 Berlinetta

On the block, drivers side on the head, is a huge threaded hole for a temp sender, any idea what the part number might be?
Anyone out there with a 350 who might have replaced one recently?
It's huge, about 3/4 to 1 inch into the water jacket.

Are you using the stock gauges? The sending unit needs to be compatible with the gauge. Don't worry about it fitting the head, you can use a reducer fitting (from the hardware store plumbing dept.) if the sending unit is smaller than the hole.

As long as we are on the subject, I am using an Edelbrock Performer intake, is there any reason I cannot move the temp sender to one of the ports on the intake?
That would get the wring away from the headers.

The coolant in the intake manifold tends to run a little cooler than in the head.
Having the sending unit in the head will give you a more accurate reading.
