Default smoking...

So I've gotten my engine rebuilt and put in... when I run it now it smokes out the passenger side exhaust really thick... the drivers side slightly smokes but not bad... I have adjusted timing and fuel ratio and properly adjusted valve lash... I've about fried my brain trying to figure out what's wrong and don't know where to go from here... feel free to ask questions if it'll help come to a conclusion, thanks!!!

Is it blue or white smoke?
What machining was done to the block?
What type of rings did you use?
Were the heads rebuilt as well?
What break-in procedure did you follow?

Blue smoke, cylinders honed, new valve seals and all new gaskets, this is the first few times its been fired... it smokes so bad I don't wanna run it too long cause my neighbors might think something is on fire...

Off the top of my head, some possible causes for blowing oil:
1) Rings didn't seat.
2) Ring(s) are cracked.
3) Valve guide to stem clearances are extremely sloppy.
4) A breather line sucking oil in from the crankcase (poor venting/pressurized crankcase).
I doubt it's #4 though, since there's a noticeable difference between sides.

Im guessing its prolly #1 then since the motor has run a total of prolly 30. Min since install... what would u recommend from here... drive it like that and see if the smoking stops?

After the initial cam break in (or not if you didn't replace), the best way to break in the rings is by driving the car, NOT by running it in the garage. The rings seat the best against the cylinder walls when the engine is under a load, which means, driving it.

Alright, ill take it out after sundown so the smoke isn't so noticeable... ill report back as to the outcomeof the drive

so the engine wasn't really "rebuilt"

why were cylinders only honed and new rings installed? If there was a ridge left at the top of your cylinders you can kiss the new rings goodbye

why only new valve stem seals and not new guides or seats cut?

way too much left to hopes and prayers and you have many potential culprits for smoking after this "rebuild"
