Default Heads

What heads would you recomend for a 383 C.I.D. Stroker. I was looking at Dart heads 49cc Combustion chamber and 230 CFM runners. I was also wondering what's the highest compresion ratio I can run on 104 Octane? WIth that combustion chamber, felpro gaskets, and the pistons I'm using, I have a 14.3:1 ratio. I got the rotating assembly so it all depends on the heads now.

Which engine are you dealing with. Standard small block, new LT1 type?

We had a car years ago with similiar compression, and had to use 120 octane aviation fuel to keep it from detonating and still use a proper spark advance. Aluminum heads may help the situation, and if you were were using an LT1 with its reverse cooling it may help even more. You can also go to 110=112 octane racing fuel, and the price difference is not that much.

If you stay below 13:1, it will definetely make tuning easier.
