Engine swap, TPI to carb
I was recently looking at a 89' IROC Z Camaro to buy. It had a 350 TPI with a rod through the side of the motor. I didn't mind swapin a motor. ButI would haveput in a 350 andswitched it over to carburation. What alldo you have to do to change it over to carburation?Has anyone out there done this??? Is this a nightmare or what?????
well i bought an 85 with that very swap. well all i know is cuz the fuel pump is in the tank ur going to need a fuel regulator and intake carb. I know on my car the cruse control dont work and their is some not used wiring in the car and thats about all i can help u with sorry
you'll need the complete engine (of course) and non-EFI distributor (regular HEI) a ignition powered relay to run the fuel pump and a fuel pressure regulator.almost none of the wires that come out of the passenger side of the firewall will be used. the only one over there you need to be concerned with are the ones for the heat and a/c. and it makes it alot easier if you find a throttle cable and TV cable from a car that was carbed from the factory. i put a 406 in car that was a factory 2.8L car. did the complete swap in under 10 hours....
