Default crossfire to carb swap

This winter I am swapping my crossfire over to a carburetor but someone told me something about I need a computer for the transmission or something? Has anyone actually done this themselves? Or is this guy just a moron?

You will need something for the transmission, as the 700R4 uses a lockup torque converter controlled by the computer. The transmission will shift fine, but it will not lock up in OD and can cause the trans to burn up over time due to heat. I bought the TCI lockup kit from jegs, however if I were to do it again, I would ante up the extra hundred bucks and get the painless kit, much more reliable.

i have an 83 crossfire, i am in the process of restoring it myself. when i bought the car the motor was blown so i did an engine swap and put in a carbuerated 350. keeping the original computer in wont hurt anything, but it wont help either. in the process of working out the kinks i checked all of the wires on the computer and in that entire mess there is only ONE wire you need, and that is for the oil pressure gauge. my car also had the 700r4 with the lock-up torque converter. i wired mine up with just a rocker switch i picked up at the parts store. if you can remember to turn it on and off and will be a simple, inexpensive fix. NOTE you will need to purchase an adapter for the downshift cable to fit on a carb.
