Hi Guys,
My 87 Iroc 305 tpi is giving me a code 33. I know this is the maf circuit. I've replaced the burnoff and maf power relays and no change. I can tap on the maf sensor and no change to the idle. The car runs great. It initially idles high for about 5 sec on start up and then goes down and idles fine. What should I look for?

 

pull off the maf from the intake boot and look inside it. theres a fine wire stretchted out, take a look at it for any debri or damage. i have forgotten to plug mine in before and the car still ran ok without, just not great. also check the wiring at the plug underneth, it may have come in contact with the belt

Thanks for the reply. The element inside looks fine, a little dark on one side and the other side is brite silver. I tried to spay it with some crc cleaner but it didn't really clean it much. I'm going to look at the plug to see how it looks. I'm kind of suprised that it is running good and still throwing a code 33. Everything I've read say their cars run poor in a code 33.
